Only the batteries that use a corrosive (acid) liquid electrolyte and 
which generate hydrogen gas.  Don't know about your battery, but that 
accounts for most of 'em, doesn't it? Actually the main purpose of 
the vent hose is to drain away any acid "boil-over". In that sense, 
it is more accurately a "drain" rather than a vent. I doubt that a 
tiny hose going below the car has a significant effect on 
accumulation of hydrogen gas.

...except that getting "hot" is not the reason for the hose.
