So... in addition to confusing us with "pump" instead of "fan", you 
also neglected to mention that there was any coolant leakage. Tsk. 
Now, as punishment for your poorly worded question, the Audi gods are 
arranging for your radiator hose nipple (the upper one) to break off 
(*). You've been warned. ;-)

(*) I really hope that doesn't happen to you, but it's a common event 
(assuming you've still got an original oem radiator in that car) 
after there's been significant incidence of coolant-overheating.
