I thought I'd add this to the collective since I did ask the question last 
week.  Original question was whether or not the oil filter is the same on 
the 3b as the current 1.8t engines.  While I haven't checked with an Audi 
fiche or anything, I did get an affirmative answer from a local wrench I 
use, and also saw the same oil filter number referenced for both vehicles at

a local auto parts store.  The same oil filter part number was also listed 
for the '91 200 and 100.

FWIW, good enough for me but use at your own discretion.
