Blown Head Gasket (was:Power loss and white smoke)

I would think that it would be possible to have coolant leak into the
engine through the headgasket without oil necessarily going the other
direction into the coolant.  Therefore, would it be possible to have a head
gasket leaking coolant without hydrocarbons appearing in the colant?
