Solar Battery Chargers.

Don't know about your drain but we have been using the VW solar panel 
chargers for years in the Porsche sport cars at our dealership. A 911, 
Boxster or now the Caymans can sit around for months before they sell. 
The solar chargers keep us from finding cars with dead batteries 
(embarrassing for the salesperson) and expensive for the dealership.

These chargers come with all the VW's brought into the US. Usually the 
VW dealer just tosses them. If you ask the team that preps the cars for 
sale, you might get a couple (that's how I got all the ones we use).
