temp sensor wire touched unshield knock sensor

That's the one.  I wondered the same thing.  I have the schematic and will
sit down with some "reading glasses" to try to figure that out.  It wasn't a
lot of power though; the reaction wasn't immediate or particularly
spectacular.  Just a little bit of smoke from all the guk that's all over
the wiring.
