This email concerns the older Audi's with factory CD Changers. These are the
ones with a seperate control pad for the CD Changer.
Anyhow, I just discovered something and wanted to pass it on to the rest of
the list. Maybe it's already general knowlege, dont' know.
Anyhow, I have the factory Audi CD changer in my V8 Quattro. It has never
worked, as the silver box wouldn't switch to modulation. However, while
begining to install an Alpine CD changer I discovered that the factory
changer cable plugs right in to the Alpine. So, I just changed the silver
box and controler to the Alpine stuff, and I now have the factory setup in
back, working as intended. I know those silver boxes are hard to find, so
hopefully this helps someone who can't find one.

As far as I know. You just have to tune the radio to the frequency that the
modulator broadcasts in. On mine, it was 88.7, I think. Anyhow, I set preset
#1 to the freq. BTW, I had the Audi/Bose in there, and it just died, so I
changed to the Audi/Delta unit. Both worked fine with it.
The one thing I forgot to mention in the original post is that this was an
older Alpine, not a "Ai-net" (I think that's wat they are) unit. I'm not
sure if it will work with the newest ones, but would love to find out. If
that was the case, I'd put one of the newer MP3 Alpine changers in there.
