Porterfield R4 pads are fantastic for the track, but not recommended
for the street as they don't bite quite enough when cold, for the
street. You can plant your foot on the floor at highway speed and
the car will slow as if you were braking normally- and then a second
later, your face is against the windshield. I got used to it and it
certainly does make you pay a lot more attention to modulating your
brakes, but they're almost unsafe when cold.

I have R4S pads on the car now and they too squeal like a city bus
(they're better though). I didn't use any anti-squeal stuff (and
I've never had to, with OEM pads.) They grip more when warm/hot, but
have much better cold bite and it's not as sharp a transition.

My R4 set were way too large and had to be filed down. The R4S pads
were sized perfectly. I have the boxes somewhere, along with the
invoice...I'll see if I can find some part numbers for you.
