No spark?

On one of the occasions when I had the rough running problem,
 I opened the distributor looking for moisture in the cap. While 
wiping with a clean rag, the rotor tip disintegrated in my hand. 
It had corroded to where the end had separated from the arm.

Again, just one unusual case, hope it helps,
