What fluid to use in rear diff?

The weight for the rear diff oil is different from the main  
transmission, I think.  Regardless- there's no reason not to use the  
VW/Audi synthetic fluids.  I've found it gets a little hard to shift  
in -25 degree F weather, but the seats also turn rock-hard, the  
displays take seconds to 'update' and the exhaust pipe nearly seals  
itself up :-)
