too cool temps in the winter

Brett,

Far be it from me to suggest NASCAR as the answer to your cool temp
problem. ;-)

My car has never shown much on the temp gauge during the winter unless
I'm being held up by them city-slicker tourists. And I believe there
have been those who have argued that as long as the oil temp is OK, the
coolant gauge isn't too important. I don't pretend to know.
But the fact that you have a heat problem indicates that all is not
well, as I've never had a heat problem other than the lovely recirc
flap.

I'm sorry to be unable to offer much more than a confirmation of the
problem, other than to tell you that my car has been well-maintained
(read: more $ thrown at the thing than at Iraq. I'm currently working
up the financial courage to have the dealer track down my loss of
boost. It'd down to 1.5-1.6 indicated from the 1.8 we know and love
with the uncorrected readout from the chip and em. And an exhaust
hanger. And . . .)

Hope the other listers who actually know how to fix these things give
you the info.

Best Regards,
Kerry
