If I were in your situation, I'd pull the panel on the
passenger door, study how the release mechanism works,
then try to work the mechanism on the driver's door
using a metal blade (hacksaw blade, long knife, etc.).
You may have to work it from inside, rather than outside.
With the door open, then you could remove the driver's
door panel and fix the problem.
