Door latch woes

Thanks everyone for the replies and the offers. I decided to take the 
easy way out, and so I ordered from the local Audi dealer. I think 
this was the first part I've bought from him--except for a door key 
blank--since I've owned my Audis. Although I appreciated the several 
offers of cables from various listers, I guess the new cable ought to 
give an extra measure of reliability (I don't want to go into that 
door again). Oh, my dealer's price for the cable is up to $27 now.
