I'm at 262k on my avant, I had two wheel bearings and two cv boots and
the gas tank go all at ~200k, still on original heater core....which
makes me nervous, if it blew on the road can you just bypass it by
putting one hose across the inlet & outlet to it??

George, I have 197k on my Avant, bought it with 63k 5 years ago. I too
can
say it is the best car I have owned and would have a hard time placing
it
with something else (possible Allroad).
Other than a few minor electrical things that are in op, everything is
holding up well. The prior owner had an abnormal amount of maintain
(10k over
63k), however he was extremely anal with a very fat wallet.
At what mileage did you need CV joints and the heater core? My front
boots
are showing some shallow distress cracks.
