When I replaced my winshield, the tech told me when he took the old one out,
there was no conncection to the front winshield to disconnect or connect the
new one. Don't know why this is, don't know if this helps.

Roger: I have always replaced or repaired the radios in my Avant, along
with the powered antenna. There is a spare antenna RCA jack in that mess
behind the radio, and once, I hooked up the wrong antenna lead and had no
radio. What that other lead is doing there is a mystery. If I remember
correctly, the powered antenna does require a power lead, and getting an
adequate ground can be a problem.

You might try a loose coax lead from the new antenna to the radio to confirm
that the head unit and antenna are talking right, and then chase down the
installed coax with an ohmmeter.
