heat wrap/shield

I wraped my downpipe with some header wrap. Smoked a whole bunch but now
does keep the backside of the engine cooler. Been thinking on wraping my
turbo too...

Does anyone have a recommendation for a quality heat shield wrap material?
I would like to wrap some exhaust sections to reduce heating of adjacent
parts in my I5 Vanagon.  
Are there dangers of wrapping exhaust pipes I should be concerned with?
