Problem solved (?) Engine cut- out

Phil,

I wondered about that. As far as I can recall, the only things that cause 
Fuel Pump shut off, which is what I thought it sounded like was happening, 
are overboost and over revs. An easy way to see if that is what is happening 
would be to temporarily disconnect the FP ground wire from the ECU.

AFAIK, an electrical "problem" with the IM air temp sensor will _not_
cause the violent cut-out that you described. IMHO, you inadvertantly
"fixed" something else. Hope it lasts.
