The electrical connection is unimportant to the system. It just provides a
coolant temperature signal kind of for information purposes. Doesn't seem
to affect operation.
Where did you find the older version of that valve? It's been basically
NLA from Audi parts sources for some time now.
I carry a short piece of copper pipe that just slips into the heater hose.
I sandpapered the edges of the ends to make them smooth and rounded. If
your reservoir cap is in good working order, the coolant system should only
develop 14 or so psi, so you shouldn't need a lot of gripping power on the
tube.
