Oil catch can?

Let's start with the "various reasons"...while they do blow some oil  
vapor, it shouldn't be excessive.  Why did you install the can, and  
what kind is it?  Does it have a filter/separator/baffles, or just an  
open can with in+out ports?  The "just a can" setups are virtually  
worthless, baffles aren't much better.

Oh- and is it vented to atmosphere anywhere?  If so, you'll fail  
emissions, with excellent reason; crankcase gasses are -extremely-  
polluting (which is why they're recirc'd!)
