HVAC Controller Failure?

With the ignition on, the A/C is always on in AUTO mode at 65 degrees F
setting.  No other controller button push changes anything except pushing
and holding OFF.  That stops the cold air, but as soon as you let up, it
goes to AUTO and 65 degrees again.  I can't get the self diagnosis started
because of those symptoms.  I have pulled the #17 30A fust to stop it.  Any
ideas or BTDTs?
