alternator whine puzzle (X post) long

I'm going to take a WILD guess here:
What if the whine is the two cases transmitting vibrations through each other?
Would the mounting of the two compressors with rubber vibration (dampening / 
isolating) bushings between them help?

Otherwise, I'd suspect the alignment of the pulleys and the belt twisting; 
leading to  the whine or premature bearing failure.
