coolant temp to the climate control unit for display only [it does nothing as  far 
as interacting with the ECU or the climate control], therefore a valve  
without the electrical connection is ok and available in an all metal version  from 
NAPA for $15-ish. That thread is here,

I didn't know if this was true so I went with the OE type.
