I agree with John's diagnosis-- when rebuilding a Ford in my youth, got
distributor off one tooth, and fuel was burning in the manifold, got red
hot, bright enough to see in daylight! Also, bucked a lot, but would run--
no computer's back then. Friend's dad quickly diagnosed and was fixed in 15
minutes by pulling dist and carefully turning one tooth back to advance
spark.
