The theoretical, technical advantage of a straight bar vs. a kinky
bar of the same cross section is that it is orders of magnitude
stiffer than is the latter. But with the poor stiffness of the tower
collar attachment pieces and fasteners, plus the related torques
applied to the bar, the straight bar advantage is lost anyway.
