Electrical meltdown

Thanks Geraint, and TomI pulled carpet and stuff today and looked around - no signs of burning anywhere I could see!The splice appeared fine - I mean no signs of heat or melting.Car runs fine, no smoking, and the splice stays cool to the touch so it does not appear to be a problem.  Alt output is 13.8V at the jumper post and there have been no indications of poor charging.
