Maybe your tires are too big, but the wheels are fine, in terms of
width and offset.

8.5" wide wheel with a ET30 offset is about as aggressive as you can
go without major modifications to the bodywork.

255 section tires are about as wide as you can go as well.

The widest I've had on my car are 17x8 ET30 wheels with 255/40R17 tires,
no rubbing, no issues, even with Bilstein/H&R suspension, even loaded.
