turbo - longevity?

CL,

Don't believe there's a standard answer. Obviously abuse, i.e. hot shutoff,
crappy oil, etc, etc, would affect longevity. My old chipped 87 5000cs was
"put to rest" at almost 400k. Original turbo to my knowledge. My 200 20V was
blowing smoke at idle at 230k. Yet, when I went to replace it with another
K24 it seems someone had previously installed a k26? Put a used k24 in and
no more oil consumption!

My opinion is.... good oil, regular oil changes and proper shutdown
procedures are probably key to long life! (no big chunks allowed in there
either, that definitely creates problems!)

Hopefully someone else will chime in...

Eric
