Maybe so, but for now I'm not ready to trade my lack of car payment  
and place at the bottom of the depreciation curve to fit with  
everyone else's perception of status.  For me, it's satisfaction  
enough to get that certain reaction from a passenger who has just  
realized the car they're traveling in has more than 240k-miles on the  
odometer.

I think it's somewhere between fear and amazement; a little epiphany  
as their perception of the possible changes...just a bit.
