fuel line retainers

Just for the record, my solution to reclosing those clips that hold the rubber mountings for the fuel lines was to use an S-shaped flat-bladed screwdriver small enough to fit into the opening in the clip and lever the clip closed and then push them together with a straight flat-bladed screwdriver so that the bent-over edges catch eachother. The bent screwdriver is something I've had around for a long time for levering the rubber retainers of the exhaust system over their respective hooks. Don't know where I got it and I don't recall creating the bends myself. Kind of a large version of the lower hooked tool in this image:

Anybody know the secret to relatching the stainless clips that hold the rubber protectors and fuel lines in place against the body underneath? They just don't close enough to latch for me.
