Drain Plug Threads

I don't know where you'd find a larger drain plug unless you went to pipe thread.  Then you'd be looking at significantly larger thread gaps and a taper.  I'm not sure there's sufficient material in the pan to allow for that.
   
  Do large trucks have a bigger plug?  The 20-valve engines have a pretty large pan opening.

If the sealing face is fine and the threads are not, what would be a good solution?
I don't plan on installing a drain valve, just need better threads on the pan.
