Yea, you got something wrong. My Avant which I purchased with 68k, chipped
it, run 17 inch wheels and big rubber gets 18-19 in city driving, 24-26 if no
lead foot on highway (do a lot of 500 mile weekends with the car loaded
heavy). If cruising over 80 with heavy foot get 22-23. Car now as 225k on it.
When I first bought the car (came from Calif and me live in Minnesota) when
the cold weather came my mileage dropped and got low heat on the temp gauge,
replaced thermostat and mileage and tempt came up. I have experience bouts of
low MPG and several of the culprits were vacuumed leaks, MTS, tempt sensor
on radiator.
Just a note, when traveling cross country and get gas with no ethanol, MPG's
go up 2-4. MN has tonal pretty much year round, have bought 94 octane no
ethanol (marine gas) and notice a jump in MPG.
I presume you have tested MPG by actual gas used and verified your Speedo
for accuracy?
Cat's plugged?
Good luck
Pete
