Any BTDT on 3B single pass intercooler install into earlier type 44 (5kt/200)?

By cutting the cross pipe and installing a reducer and an metal elbow.
Another option is to what I did and use a piece of prop shaft to extend the
pipe down more like a euro 1B IC http://www.motorgeek.com/phpBB2/files/678087_22_full_945.jpg
 I also used a reducer elbow 3 to 2.5 not pretty  but it works.
