with UFO brakes, was that the locator bolt reduced the chances of
early "warpage" by locating the rotor so that it was centered around the
lug bolt holes...

The lug bolts would not hold the rotor in place by applying the force 
directly
to the sides of the rotor hole, but through friction between the wheel and 
rotor
and hub after the lug bolts were torqued down.

Not sure why it would work better, but here is what I had heard.....take
it with a grain of salt as usual.
