They are machined, not polished.  They'll look like hell if you get  
them polished and re-clearcoated.  The machining is why they're  
silvery but not chrome-bling-y.

If damage is light, you MIGHT be able to get away with stripping the  
clearcoat and then using a very light metal polish/cleaner to remove  
oxidation, then re-clear-coat.  Dunno.
