how many have done valve work?

How many of you have done either valve seals, or full valve jobs?
My 200 has 165K miles and, though it burns less oil after a turbo swap, still burns too much (quart/ 500 or so).
Thinking about a leakdown test for some more info,  but wonder If I should just have the valve seals done and hope for the best.
Want to get this sorted before I decide to spend the grand on a clutch job.
