latest on boost saga

Hi taka, i believe that's what 034 is running on the car while they trouble shoot.

they are also going to throw it up on the dyno to dial in the a/f mixture with their chip (i bought it at a nice discount - gonna give ian back his ia3+). especially if they end up capping off the wgfv.

basically, the jist of it is that the GUARANTEE the wgfv is good. even tried one of their know good ones. the signal coming form the computer to the connector is also correct.

YET, for whatever reason, the wgfv acts like it's disconnected. i.e. 1.4 bar max boost. typical reading if you were to disconnect your wgfv from my understanding.

The stock digital boost gauge is too slow reacting to be accurate. You really would need a proper electric boost gauge with peak/hold feature and a stepper motor if you want accurate readings for diagnostic purposes.

too verify that the stock digital boost gauge was accurate. can't be going off the "butt dyno" ;-)

No, when the altitude sensor went, I got about 5 psi max boost once the engine warmed up. I got full boost when the engine was stone cold.

What does the boost gauge have to do with losing boost?

What was your max boost? Was it 21lbs?

according to Dan, they rigged an aftermarket boost gauge to cut out the stock boost gauge being an issue.

when the IA3+ is doing it's thing, it hits full 21 lbs then rolls back to 15lbs at redline. which it's supposed to do.

did your alt. sensor throw a code, or you had to shotgun it (replace possible sensors one at a time).

i'll ask what the boost was when it wasn't going full boost.

thanks,

Robby

When do you have the problem?

How much boost do you see after it drops the boost?

I had a similar issue with my old car- it was the altitude sensor.

hi all,

the latest is that 034 pulled the turbo. it's fine (1/2 price on labor to pull it). took my ecu and put ian's IA3+ in it. hauled ass. for a while, then started knocking down the boost again.

javad and crew are really frustrated with the car. they are thinking of trying their chip once again, but in my ecu - not ian's. the problem is that they floated the labor cost to socket ian's (and then put it back to IA3+), but i'll probably have to pay for them to socket mine this time around. Dan said he's cut me a deal on the chip and MAP sensor though.

another option they've been kicking around is to cap off the N75 and install a 2.2 bar WG spring. they want to mull over the ramifications of that first though. i'd get my 20 lbs because the computer can't lower the boost. and it's not like their stand alone system lowers boost either, so maybe it's not such a big deal provided i'm not stomping on it in 100 degree weather or anything?

034 says they GAURANTEE they've checked every flippen sensor or possibility with the car. at least she did boost for a little bit with my computer. Dan at 034 said he can believe the ecu going bad - like the pressure transducer - but what would make for a flakey chip? they are open to suggestions.

see ya,

Robby
