Front lower control arms: G60 v UFO

Do you have a non-factory strut conversion on your car?

The V8, 200q20v and UrS struts all use the larger ball joint, even for the
G60 converted cars.

It sounds like you have 10v struts in your car, resulting in a narrower
track and less tire clearance in the front.
