Sunroof troubleshooting

If it's like my Scirocco, the tilt needs to be up. You reach in and detach
the spring holding the flap. It's in the center. Usually a hook made from a
hangar works. You unclip it from the interior panel. Then grab it and pull
it back. It snaps off the sunroof itself. The snaps are in the front part of
the sunroof panel. Don't forget to reconnect it. It just pops back on
easily. If you forget it can go back into the pocket for the sunroof.

Subject: Sunroof troubleshooting
I'm starting to investigate why the sunroof on V8#2 makes funny plastic gear
snapping noises when the tilt-up position is chosen and doesn't want to open
in the slide-back mode.
The motor runs, so I'm assuming it's out of adjustment. First step in
checking the motor in place (after exposing it) is "detach sunroof lid
headliner and slide back into roof."
I don't find that process described in the section on sunroofs. I see
where there are headliner retaining clips, but not means of removing them.
Any guidance?
