According to the description the kit is installed "from the cockpit" and does not seem to address worn plastic socket on top of the transmission.

Regardless of that the plastic ball socket may need to be examined because if worn it will pop out and leave the diver with only one gear (usually third).

don't know, if you look at the page for the 034 short shift kit, it sounds like they're saying it does away with the plastic linkage:
