The other starter anomaly

I had the exact same symptoms earlier this winter, cleaned all
connections etc. I wound up changing the starter and it's been fine
since.

It seemed like there was some issue with a connection inside the
starter, mine got to where you couldn't even jump it....but 3 minutes
with the heat gun on the solenoid it would fire right up.

Last time this happened on my other avant, I replaced the braided ground
strap with a wire and got another 18 months out of it, that was a waste
of time.

Switch is OEM (275K miles) and has been no problem ever before. The
thing is, it works every time when the battery is charged fully. Does
that make sense?

My guess would be the ignition switch -- my red flag being that you
wiggled the
key to get it back to life. When was the switch replaced last (if ever)?
