instrument cluster fun and more with the 200!

well being these cars aren't worth much of anything - hitting it's value in repairs shouldn't be too hard. LOL!

eh, shouldn't be too bad. i could probably figure out how to replace the breather hoses myself - but i'm stumped as to what is contributing to a seeming loss of boost.

the gauge doesn't get past 1.4 bar - BUT the car is still pulling and the turbo is still spinning.

better to have javad (034) or tomas (European auto service)  just fix it an get it over with rather than fart around for months on end.

as far as putting more money into the car than what i paid - i don't really care. the 200q20v, like 99.9% of all cars, are losing investments. and thankfully, the original owner already took the full depreciation hit. i still have the window sticker. $44,400 in december of 1991. WOW!

i paid $2,800 for the car. it's a solid base to start from - "only" 114,000 miles - most of it's life in CA. i'll probably have $7,000 into it by the time it's all cleaned up with nice paint and working a/c. not blowing the cash all at once - it's an ongoing process. like a slow leak. HA!

but who cares - i'll most likely never sell it (it was the car i lusted after in high school). it's not my daily driver. it has 280HP, koni/H&R, 034 billet bypass, samco hoses. i'll throw some exhaust on it (nothing fancy - magnaflow or something), tint the windows and just have a badass car for the ages.

that's where the "real value" is IMHO.

see ya,
Robby

How much more than the car is worth?

ha! the sensor for the pads must be disconnected and it's bitching that the
coolant temp sensor is bad. might be - it's slightly weeping.

learned a little more. at least on the gauge, it's not pulling past 1.4 bar.
but it's BS as the car is still building boost. not surprising since we went
to install the 034 silicon breather hose and found that the rest of the hose run
all the way to the egr has basically disintegrated. could a massive vacuum leak
cause my problems?

them replace the crankcase breather BS, install their 034 tranny mounts, look
and fix boost and vacuum leaks and just give the car a once over.
