Filing contacts on the fuse will cause problems. The base metal of the fuse blades is copper, which corrode extremely quickly when exposed to air and moisture. Also, galvanic corrosion will take over if they get damp (humidity) within the fuse box. The fuse blades are tin plated to help prevent this, and to provide the same metal as the contacts within the fuse box to prevent galvanic corrosion.
