I'm really tired of this

Got the car back from the mechanic today,

They tried swapping my spare ECU, but turns out the car didn't even start with the other ECU, PO told me it was possibly bad, it IS bad...

When they plugged the old one in (the one with the TAP chip installed in 93) the car started right away, trouble free.

I left, went for a few errands around town, no issues. On my way home, car died as usual, coasted on the side of the road to a stop. Tried to start, nothing. Unplugged the ECU for a minute, plugged it back in, vroom and on my way I was... No more 20 min wait for it to start...

So seems like the chip or something in the ECU is going bad after a while, but after a reset all goes back to normal, until it fails again...

I called a guy who deals with ECUs and chips here in town, he comes highly recommended to have worked on many Audis and VWs for 20 years.

If ever the chip is the problem, can I simply send my ECU to TAP to get it fixed? If I have to get a new one, which chip do you guys recommend? IA, Lehmann, another TAP? other?

cheers
