Well, it looks like my next step is to pull the IC regardless.  I was
there, almost pulled it just as I was informed the kitchen sink drain
stopped flowing.  Put wrenches away, retire to crawl space to pull drain
cleanout.

A dead bulb in the battery light socket of the instrument cluster will
prevent the exciter wire from working, according to Scott Mockry's
wonderful website.  So will corrosion on/in the wire.  I've had to replace
that wire from the starter to almost the spot it comes through the
firewall because of internal corrosion on the wire strands inside the
insulation.  I've read of folks having to go all the way to the fuse box.

I posted about this briefly several days ago in relation to an ignition

switch thread... I have a no-charge situation.  I checked the obvious and

then hit the Bentley.  I seem to have a problem with the exciter circuit.

Connections and belt were all tight and good.



Exciter circuit amperage was around 20 when spec is 150-185.



When I turn on the ignition, the battery light does not come on.  The

antilock light does but goes out almost immediately.



Bentley points to IC or exciter wire between alternator and IC.



237k on the clock.



Any ideas or helpful hints?
