You're welcome Robby! I can't see a regular repair shop having the proper touch to take care of an IC properly. It shouldn't be manhandled and when repairing it care should be taken to keep static electricity from screwing things. Out of curiosity, what did they spend on a typical fetish visit? I sometimes, well a lot of the time, justify my work on the car by knowing I'm saving money...not necessarily saving time, but....

the stock gauge never worked. i looked through the receipts for the car - seems the original owners had a real fetish about paying shops to fart around with the instrument cluster - it's been in and out a lot - probably why all the solder connections are toast.
