Shift linkage starting to get notchy.

I’ve not had to lube or adjust the shift linkage nor had the tranny  
out, so maybe someone that has can shed some light.
All shifts are fine, just when moving within the N area do I feel a  
new slight notchy sensation. I’ve lifted the shift lever boot and  
lubed the pivot ball to no effect. What else, must be deeper?
