Code reading

Amazing what a little googling will do for you...
My airbag codes were all related to the fact that I disconnected power to
something. I think I was trying to figure out why my alternator would no
longer charge and was doing some Bentley diagnostics.
For Motronic, from SJM Autotechnik I got:
2231 (Blink Fault Code), 00533 VAG1551/2 Fault Code Number
Idle Speed Control Valve (N71)
Idle speed adaptation maximum limit exceeded or Minimum adaptation limit not
reached
Sticky or binding ISV, Mass Air Flow Meter (G70) offset, additional air
introduced between G70 and N71
Symptom: Idle speed too low, or too high, Add air leak.
2111 (Blink Fault Code), 00513 VAG1551/2 Fault Code Number
RPM sensor (G28)
Open or short circuit, sensor malfunction
Defective sensor & cables, metal fragments on flywheel teeth
Symptom: Engine will not start, misfires, may stop running
NOTE: I have seen this fault code occur after cranking the engine during a
no start condition
in a few rare cases where there was nothing wrong with the RPM sensor.
Cool, something to do tomorrow.

A friend was kind enough to stop by this afternoon with his vag-com setup to
reset my airbag. We struck out with that, I think because we may not have
followed the proper procedure.
We communicated with the Motronic and found 0533 Idle speed regulation 09-10
Adaption limit surpassed, Intermittent. Huh?
We also got 00513 Engine speed sensor G28 03-00 No signal. Is that just
because the engine wasn't running?
After he left when I discovered that we may not have followed proper
procedure according to Bentley to talk to the airbag, I decided to try to do
so with my El Cheapo code reader. It would not power up with the trigger
module disconnected, so I reconnected it and voila, recorded 3 codes and
then cleared them. They were: 01025, 00588, and 00532. El Cheapo gives no
further info on these. I do know that my airbag light came on some time ago
when I disconnected a connector either on the steering column or behind the
driver's knee bar, so I'm not overly concerned with what they codes mean,
but I would like to try to find out.
I'm curious about the idle speed regulation thing though. Sounds like it
might point to the ISV.
My Check Engine light is functional and it was not illuminated by these
Motronic error codes.
