Half Shafts - Dimension?

Stripped inboard splines while driving uphill on ice and snow under full power in TO facility last January. This is after several years doing exactly the same every winter school.

Really! Shaft failed? Shaft broke in two, or stripped the inboard  
spline? Tell more!
