Hey guys,
thanks for the support. basically, i depressed the clutch to throw the car in neutral (coming up on traffic), but the pedal never came back up. i can NOT shift into any gear with the car running. the tranny is stuck in neutral. i can move shifter horizontally, but can't put in in any gear. i obviously didn't push too hard. don't want to break something else.
i can't remember if i tried to shift with the engine off. i was too busy keeping a look out to see if i was going to get rear ended as i was stuck in the off ramp lane - not on the shoulder.
i didn't hear anything snap or any funky noise whatsoever. the only reason i realized the clutch pedal never came back up was because traffic let up and i was going to put it back in gear. at which point, i was like "where the F did the clutch pedal go????"
shayne, please come by my place this weekend to take a look. there's food and booze in it for you ;-)
see ya,
Robby

Sounds like the clutch is stuck disengauged, never been able to drive one that way.
Strangest problem I have seen on an audi, was clutch stuck disengauged, but petal stuck up, could not depress unless hyd. opened.
Found the clutch fork had worn through where the rod pushes, rod stuck in hole, rod pushed on side of slave piston instead of center and cocked the piston sideways.
Question is "is the clutch engauged or disengauged.
Likely just needs a master and/or slave if engauged.
