Thank you for your assistance. The link interesting shows all BUT the key to separating the boards. It suggests that the boards can be flipped open after the final step of sliding the whole shebang to the right....but that is not the case. All that does (it appears) is allow it to separate from the base mounting plate.
My guess is that like many electronic devices the Motronic was designed NOT to be disassembled, that some surgery is necessary .
If ANYONE out there has the answer, I am all ears.
